Central Coast manufacturers take out awards at the HMA awards night

The Hunter Manufacturing Awards were held on Friday the 15th October. Two Central Coast Manufacturers were successful in winning awards.

Tuggerah based Elecbrakes took out the award for Excellence in Manufacturing. Elecbrakes is an electric trailer brake system that is mounted on the trailer. It can be hard wired in or can be a “plug and Play” installation, eliminating the need to mount an electric brake controller in your car which is more expensive. The system is controlled by an app on your phone and is ADR compliant.

Managing Director Craig de Leon, a self-taught product developer developed his first prototype in 2015 and has gone on to grow the business. A true disrupter in the market. Over the past 18 months Elecbrakes have grown as a company as a result of sudden increase in caravanning and trailering when overseas travel was limited. The Elecbrakes team have successfully stepped up their manufacturing capability through automation to meet the demand.

Our second award winner was the Chamberlain Group, no stranger to the awards, having been winners in the pass two years and having taken out the Manufacturer of the year Award in 2019. This year Chamberlain took out the Excellence in Export and Global Supply chains award. The category recognises businesses that have created a significant revenue stream through the establishment of export markets or participation in one of the major global supply chains.Chamberlain demonstrated how a strong strategic approach in identifying and entering new markets has ensured a more sustainable Australian manufacturing facility with their stand-out strategy, the collaboration with a US global leader to support Chamberlain’s design and manufacture of a winching application for the USA poultry market.

Well done to both winners and a special mention to other Central Coast finalist, TrendPac, Bioaction Pty Ltd and Aquation.

As the Executive Director of CCIC and a HMA Board member I am so proud that Central Coast Manufacturing continues to shine .
