Construction and Infrastructure

Construction and Infrastructure Industries play an important role in the region. Value add of  the sector is $791 million in the 2015/16  year, the 4th highest industry in this category and is covered by three major segments: Building Construction, Heavy and Civil Engineering services and Construction services. With a total employment number of 9,293 FTE the sector is the third highest employer.

When we look at manufacturers in the region we find that Building/Construction manufacturing is the largest component by number of the total manufacturers. The two  industry sectors provide some future growth opportunities given the current infrastructure and building boom. This is further the case as the lines of what is manufacturing become blurred with its transition.
